The COURAGEOUS² project is an ambitious European Union initiative aimed at enhancing the safety and security of airspace by addressing the challenges posed by unmanned aerial systems (UAS), commonly known as drones. Building on the foundation of the original COURAGEOUS project, this second phase focuses on advancing counter-drone technologies and methodologies.
Standardized Testing: Develop and validate methodologies for testing counter-UAS systems to ensure reliability and effectiveness.
Threat Scenarios: Create specific drone threat scenarios tailored to law enforcement needs, such as security at airports, borders, and critical infrastructure.
Performance Requirements: Define operational and functional needs for counter-UAS systems to guide development and deployment.
Collaboration: Foster partnerships among law enforcement agencies, researchers, and industry stakeholders to share insights and results.
Validation Trials: Conduct trials in Belgium, Greece, and Spain to test counter-UAS technologies against real-world scenarios.
Data Sharing: Establish frameworks for sharing test results and methodologies across EU law enforcement agencies and globally via INTERPOL.
Framework Development: Publish a comprehensive counter-UAS framework to guide law enforcement in selecting and deploying technologies.
Enhanced Security: Equip law enforcement with tools to detect, track, and neutralize rogue drones effectively.
Global Collaboration: Promote international cooperation through shared methodologies and frameworks.
Innovation: Drive advancements in counter-drone technologies, benefiting both public safety and commercial sectors.
COURAGEOUS² represents a significant step forward in addressing the growing challenges of drone regulation and safety, ensuring that law enforcement agencies are prepared to tackle emerging threats in the lower airspace.
Project COURAGEOUS² is a consortium of 7 Law Enforcement Agencies, 5 Universities and 4 Private Entities. This project is funded by the European Union.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Internal Security Fund Police under Grant Agreement 101034655 (COURAGEOUS2)
